One of the world’s highest lakes, then over the Thorong La
Overview
The classic Annapurna Circuit with a detour to Tilicho Lake (4,919 m), a glacier-fed lake under the north face of Tilicho Peak. The detour adds three days and gives you better acclimatisation for the Thorong La.
Drive to Dharapani and walk up the Marsyangdi valley through Chame and Upper Pisang to Manang, with a rest day there. Branch west to Shree Kharka and Tilicho Base Camp, visit the lake, then rejoin the circuit at Yak Kharka. Cross the Thorong La (5,416 m) to Muktinath and fly from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Fit trekkers comfortable with 5–8 hours a day. The trail to Tilicho crosses a landslide slope that needs care. Good second or third trek; strong first-timers can do it with training.
Why book with us: Licensed local guide who speaks English or Spanish, daily oximeter checks, a rest day in Manang and a spare day in Kathmandu.
Long days and high passes. Some previous hiking experience recommended.
